Washington Square Park Arch Superimposed with Potter's Field

Washington Square Park used to be the site of a potter’s field, a burial place for the poor as well as the deceased victims of a yellow fever outbreak in the early 19th century. There are approximately 20,000 bodies buried there (at least according to the good folks of Wikipedia).
