Sylvia Beach and Aaron Burr in Princeton

I had no idea that the great Sylvia Beach was right down the street from me in Princeton. There is this wonderful old cemetery across from the public library that includes Aaron Burr, Grover Cleveland, John von Neumann, a thousand other mathematicians, and the great Sylvia Beach.

She ran the great Shakespeare and Company in Paris and had the gaul to publish James Joyce’s Ulysses when nobody else wanted to. A brilliant lady who deserves a better headstone. Better yet, what brought her back to Princeton (it is a family plot) after her years in Paris? So many questions.

Another reason why it is a great town.
