Flower,
growing into the deep summer sun,
teases a smile from her lips.

Dangling hair,
dappled dawn full of rosy clouds,
Her soft breathing,
drifting in and out of those lazy dreams.

Aging together, running my
calloused hands over her bare shoulder,
trying not to wake her from such a contented slumber.

Life drifts further through these days than most, sun pierces the closed shades,
our white walls even whiter still, my heart beating like mad.

Struggling to shift weight so I go unnoticed, I walk to the door
and look back at her sleeping.

I will always look back.
