Aluka has been featured in a New York Times article about its digitization efforts with the Islamic Manuscripts of Timbuktu, a project that is only starting to appear on the digital library itself. You can read the article here.
Aluka worked with local partners to digitize these manuscripts, most notably SAVAMA. These manuscripts date to the golden age of Timbuktu culture and influence and range in age from 300-600 years old.
If you want to take a look at the manuscripts themselves, please go here.
